How to copy a web page if it has copy protection installed. How to copy a web page if it has copy protection installed How to download articles from the Internet

Very often, such pages have a lot of points and “dry” boring rules for using site materials that almost no one reads. We will speak to you honestly and to the point.

I'll give you real practical advice, which will be very useful to all webmasters. We will talk about what is very important to take into account in modern conditions.

On this page I will not only tell you under what conditions you can copy materials from almost any site, but I will also touch on modern methods of “protecting” unique texts.

Additionally you will learn: how to avoid many problems and troubles associated with copying copyright content from other sites ? And even benefit from non-unique, but interesting and useful texts for readers.

The first part will be moral (experienced “pirates” may miss), and the second will be practical (legal and important technical consequences of copying copyright materials).

Let's start with the main thing - for which, I hope, you came to this page. Texts, as well as images from this blog, are allowed to be copied to your websites, subject to only 2 conditions:

1) First and foremost important condition. Texts and articles specifically from of this Internet resource You can copy and it is even welcome! But only if you provide a direct active link to the source (without any redirects, blocking from indexing, etc.). The link should be visible to both users and search engines.

2) Second. All texts must remain as they are presented on the site.. Rewriting them in your own words (doing so-called “rewriting”) is prohibited. You can copy some part of the text and paste it into your article without changes. Next to it you can write any of your additions, prefaces, conclusions, etc., the main thing is not to change the copied text itself. I'll explain further why it is very important to follow these rules and how their violation threatens you and your site .

I am not a supporter of scaring anyone or preaching morals. This is a pointless waste of time. We are all adults and act as we see fit. My task is to tell you about how things really stand with the uniqueness of content on the modern Internet.

Is there morality on the modern Internet?

First, a little “water” and morality. The problem is that for many people the word “morality” and author’s work are empty words. It is for them that I wrote a couple of paragraphs below.

Many inexperienced webmasters consider it “beneath their dignity” to put links to source sites from which they copy (in this case “steal”) texts. Although it only takes a few seconds and from the moral side of the issue it is a modest “gratitude” to the author of the article for his knowledge and work.

Most often, newcomers read some outdated articles and advice that links to other resources are harmful or even take away some “weight” from the page of their site. This is all outdated and no longer relevant nonsense!

News sites constantly copy certain news from other sites and ALWAYS put active links to sources. Do you think news agencies are dumber than you and they don’t have competent, technically and legally savvy specialists? Believe me, they have already “eaten the dog” on this! It’s not for nothing that their sites are constantly in first place (in the TOP) of Yandex and Google.

Now let’s discard the moral side of the issue, which is alien to many “advanced users”. Below I will explain to you technical and legal consequences of adding non-unique texts to your website.

Since 2009, I have been doing SEO and working with many sites (some are already 10-15 years old, but there are also many young resources). I think I can talk about these things quite competently. Below I will only say about what has been tested in practice more than once and has proven its effectiveness. I am convinced that my experience will be very useful for beginners.

What is legal protection of copyright materials?

Well, first, a little bit of the “legal” side of the issue. I wouldn’t want to scare anyone, much less burden anyone with citations of laws. I’ll just tell you about what was actually used in practice and brought successful results.

We all understand that chasing every stolen text and suing many website owners is a utopia or the so-called fight against “windmills”.

At the same time, it is not necessary to sue everyone. It is enough to win just ONE case and then you can calmly and without much effort plunge many unscrupulous webmasters into a “cold sweat”. How to do this?

I won’t go into details now, but I’ll tell you one simple and maximum effective method from real practice.

One day I was in a very bad mood and I was simply infuriated by one “plagiarist” who copied my news site literally automatically (via RSS). What was ultimately done to punish the insolent man and to satisfy his sense of inner justice? I will give one such example below.

Let's say that your very valuable and unique content is regularly stolen. For example, your original article, manual, e-book(anything) republished on another resource without a link to your site.

And when some next “would-be pirate” pisses you off, you can try to teach him a lesson. Of course, his site may be seriously damaged in the future, but I will touch on this topic at the end of the article.

Below I will tell you an example of effective legal procedures, but you should not resort to them right away. First, let's try to “crush” the plagiarist morally.

Finding the email address and registration details of the domain owner is not very difficult. Even if they are not directly indicated on the website, you can do this through the same service of the official registrar REG.RU.

Next, feel free to write to the administrator of the thief site at email. Write requests like: “Remove my article, otherwise you will get in trouble!” - definitely not worth it. More often than not, they will either not answer you or simply send you away.

It is necessary to write as convincingly as possible and provide absolutely specific consequences for failure to comply with your legal requirements.

How to deal with content thieves?

Write the text and your requirements at your own discretion. I'll just bring One example of such a letter:

"Hello.

An illegal placement of our original article was discovered on your website:

http://www.sitevora.ru/statya.html

Posting of this article is permitted only if a direct hyperlink to the source of the article is indicated, namely to a specific page of our website:

http://oursite.ru/most-valuable-article-in-the-world.html

We require you to either provide a direct link to the source of the article or remove the material.

This article was written by our journalist and has a text version with an officially certified date. Therefore, it will not be difficult for us to legally prove our authorship to your hosting company. In case of failure to comply with our legal requirements, we will file a corresponding claim both against the hosting (where the files of your site are located) and personally against you (“for copyright infringement and placement of stolen content”).

Practice shows that it is easier for hosting companies to immediately remove a site with stolen content from their servers than to deal with lawsuits, etc. After all, they have hundreds of clients and in 99% of cases no one will waste their nerves, time and money because of the illegal activities of one of their clients.

Below I quote you the relevant paragraph of the law:

Also, if necessary, our lawyers will forward such claims to the relevant departments of leading search engines. Even though search engines, as a rule, do not identify the authors of materials, when providing them with official evidence of the original source, they apply certain sanctions to the plagiarizing site.

We hope that you will adequately respond to our request and fulfill our requirements.

Sincerely, representative of the site administration http://yoursite.ru/ »

Of course, if you have an ordinary personal blog, then it will be funny to add phrases such as “our lawyers”, etc. to the letter. Then it’s better to write “my personal lawyer” so that it looks believable and convincing. Moreover, we wrote the absolute truth and there is no need to create unnecessary fear with some mythical legal departments of your personal blog, etc. Write as convincingly as possible, but without any threats or “assaults.” Competently, educated and relying only on real legal instruments.

With a competent approach, the problem in 95% of cases is resolved without trial

In most cases, after such a letter, the owner (moderator) of the “thief site” will quickly fulfill all your demands and, most likely, will even ask for forgiveness for his short-sightedness.

It is unlikely that an adequate person will check the seriousness of your intentions and risk not only his website and domain, but also the money that was paid for all these services. Plus, the amount of a potential claim can be more than convincing.

For example, a good author charges at least $10 for his services for 1 thousand characters of text. Let’s say your article is 5 thousand characters long. Multiply 10 dollars. x 5000 characters and we get the cost of the article at $50. Each misuse of stolen content is one view of the article. Let the site have 100 visitors per day.

Multiply 100 views x $50 and you get $5,000 per day. The figure seems pretty convincing. But if you consider maximum amount, which is specified in the law (5 million rubles), then compensation for your damage may ultimately turn out to be very impressive.

Personally, I wouldn’t want to be in the shoes of a website owner who is a thief. It’s better to put a link to the source site or, as a last resort, delete the material. I will tell you later why it is more profitable for both parties to leave the article and the link.

What to do if you come across a fundamental “plagiarist” or “impenetrable thief site”?

Well, what if you come across a very stubborn site owner and doesn’t want to fulfill your demands? Well, that's his right. Many people like to learn only from their mistakes and at their own expense.

I am sure that after you write approximately the same letter to the hosting address (where the thief site is located), 99% of adequate hosting companies will take your side. They have quick and effective arguments against plagiarists.

They simply delete the account of this unfortunate figure along with all his sites. And the fact that he paid money to rent servers for six months or a year in advance does not bother anyone. Read the public offer that you sign electronically during registration on almost any hosting.

How hosting providers deal with thieves of other people's content

Was there a checkmark next to the corresponding item? So no complaints. It is always easier for a hosting provider to “destroy” one unscrupulous client than to have potential problems and possible financial losses in the future. After all, they are responsible for what is hosted on their servers.

How to really punish the thief of your copyright texts (articles)? Step-by-step legal instructions.

If you decide to follow the principle to the end, then proceed as follows. It will not be difficult for you to print out the text version of the article. Next, put your name, signature and date on it. It is advisable to date it to a date that was earlier than the date of publication on your site.

Go to a notary and have the document certified. Although you can simply send the paper to your address by registered mail with notification of delivery. Naturally, after receiving the letter with the stamp, do not open it. This will be a document that confirms that you are the author of a specific text!

A document that will help protect and confirm your copyright

With this paper you can go to court, file a claim against the hosting or site owner. Well, or both at once. Yes, it’s not cheap and not the fastest. But when you receive a positive court decision, you will not only be able to punish the culprits financially. You can send the same document with the court decision to any hosting and the “effect” from it will be very fast and simply “magical”.

Technical protection of texts on the site from theft (theft)

The legal side of the issue is good. But such a question is worth bothering with when the material is very valuable or it is a full-fledged information product.

At the same time, you should be realistic and understand that novice “plagiarists” create their sites “on the knee” solely for the sake of making money on the same advertising. Naturally, writing unique articles is time-consuming and expensive, so most often they are simply copied from other resources. If articles are taken away a large number sites, then writing to everyone is stupid. Then really a separate person should do this only for your site.

It is important to ensure that your site is recognized as a primary source in the eyes of search engines. In this case, all resources that will steal texts from your site without a link to the source will have a hard time. Below I will write why.

Firstly, if search engines have already recognized your site as the primary source, then in the absence of a link to the original article, the page with non-unique text will always be lower. I would also like to note that the latest changes in search algorithms allowed the same Yandex and Google to very accurately determine even “redacted” text.

If you don’t yet know what “rewriting” is and how search engines determine the uniqueness of a text, then be sure to watch my free video tutorial below. I wrote it down a long time ago, but everything is still relevant now.

Video tutorial: How to determine the uniqueness of a text?

How to benefit your site from copied and non-unique texts?

And now I I'm talking about a tough topic. Just don't tell anyone else! I'm serious.

Once, on the sidelines of an SEO event, a fairly well-known specialist (we won’t name his last name) said something interesting. practical observation. I tested his claims on real websites and was very pleasantly surprised!

I won’t go into detail about everything (I talked about this in detail in), but I’ll explain the main point.

Video course “Secrets of practical SEO”

I wrote above that a page with non-unique content will almost always be lower than the original source. But only on the condition that there is NO LINK TO THE ORIGINAL.

« But from this place, please, in a whisper and in more detail“- said (rubbing his hands) the “black” optimizer.

Don't languish! Come on "meat"! What can we learn from this for our actual brick-and-mortar sites?

Firstly, if you take some parts of non-unique text (or the entire article), add it to your website and put an active link to the source, then search engines, at a minimum, will not punish your page with “sanctions”. But this is not enough!

If you write your unique content around the non-unique text (above, below), for example, your thoughts on this topic with pictures, etc. Maybe add more videos on the topic. The search engines will appreciate it.

The developers of the same Google themselves stated that if you “rewrite” someone else’s text, this is EVIL. You are simply “distorting” someone else’s copyrighted content. The Internet is littered with sites with redacted articles. Of course, you can do a so-called “deep” rewrite, when only the meaning remains from the old text, but isn’t it easier then to write a new unique article?

But if you make a so-called “composite” material and it contains quotes or parts of texts from other sites, then search engines will consider your article analytical. To make your site “expert” and for search engines to seriously trust it, you need to work on it for a very long time.

And in the case of an analytical article with links to other sources, with quotes from texts by other authors, your page will be trustworthy. And your article in some cases may even be higher than the originals that you quote. Yes, yes, you understood everything correctly. Search engines love reviews and analytical articles with links to other sites on the same topic.

Providing links to sources tells search engines that you did a really good job on the material. You refer to the arguments of other experts in this field, which means that your material may be of interest to a wide audience. And these are not only my statements, these are statements of leading developers of the same Google. And this topic also works in Yandex, which means they think the same. This is really the future.

Moreover. Readers of your site can follow links to sources and read the continuation of the material there. What will this mean for your site? And the fact that he will have fewer so-called “refuses”. Users will not return back to search and will begin to improve the “behavioral data” of a specific page. And this is one of the ranking factors for Google and Yandex search engines.

How to improve the most important user factors of a website

Thus, if the pages of your site lack interesting content and little information, then feel free to quote other sites. Just do not rewrite under any circumstances and be sure to include links to sources. The Internet is built on a link structure and hyperlinks will always be relevant! None of the thieves of other people’s texts even think that by putting a link to the original article, he will bring more benefit to his site. Modern behavioral data is good. Users, of course, love to click on links and improve the performance of your pages. But even this is not the most important thing.

Search engines also love it when you link to other related sites. Developers have already stated hundreds of times that it is by links to other sites that it is determined what topic your site belongs to. It is important not only who links to you, but also to whom you link. And when the link is to a quality resource, search engines give “bonuses” both to the one who links (additional value and information content of the page) and to the accepting site.

Moreover, have you ever seen a good and high-quality website that has no links to other sites at all? Me not. That is why search engines consider it unnatural for a resource to have no outgoing links. It even looks suspicious. Of course, if you link to everyone, this will also not benefit your site. But I doubt that you can find interesting original articles or other materials on low-quality sites. If the author of the resource writes competently and interestingly, this indicates good prospects for his site and it is even pleasant to refer to it.

But I warn you against the mistake of many beginners who began to “build” their new “young” site exclusively on copied articles. Still, copied content should be no more than 30% of the rest. Although now there are many examples where the same news aggregators do not have their own unique content at all. Exclusively copied texts with links to sources. There are also similar sites “collections” of the best articles, etc.

They all live well and, importantly, have good traffic from search engines and through advertising, affiliate programs, etc. This is how “honest” their business is. And thousands of “pseudo-sites” with stolen texts (without links to sources) have long “died a brave death” under the yoke of .

Good luck to you in all your endeavors! Best regards, Ruslan Savchenko.

In our legislation, there is a concept of citizen integrity, that is, it is assumed that a person is not guilty until no one has proven otherwise.

On the other hand, ignorance of the law does not excuse one from responsibility for violating it.

Since the level of legal culture in society in general and on the Internet in particular is quite low, let’s try to figure out why people violate the rights of authors without even knowing it and how to try to avoid it.

This article is for those who want to legally use someone else's content by copying or copy-pasting (copy - copy, past - paste) and not get into trouble.

A few words about author rights and plagiarism

Nonsense, many people think, since it’s posted for everyone, it means everyone can use it. No, it's not legal and it's just not fair!

An author is a person who has some information that he obtained through his own work, for example, he studied at a university or studied some topic himself, spent money, for example, on travel and time collecting information. Then the author sat down and began to write it all down, instead of resting like everyone else was doing at this time. Then he posted the results of his work on his blog or website, most often completely free of charge. Of course, there are authors who get paid, but most people on the Internet write for free, and post their materials on their sites, which often have systems installed contextual advertising or partnership programs, which may bring in pennies, but still. And if you take away the author’s materials, you, without meaning to, take away even this small income from the author!

And then there is plagiarism - that is, appropriation of someone else's authorship, theft of someone else's rights. If you publish someone else's text or photo under your own nickname and do not indicate who the author is, by default it is considered that this is your text.

And if it is not yours, then you have appropriated someone else’s rights, even if you didn’t want it.

That is, it turns out that you are stealing instead of thanking the author for Good work... But you don’t want to be a thief?!

Legal ways to use copyrighted content

1. Copy-paste of materials that are permitted to be copied

3. Quoting

1. What materials from the Internet can be copied?

If you liked other people's materials and want to use them, then you must comply with the restrictions set by the author of the material on the site - the source of the original.

Check whether the materials are allowed for copying - whether there is a ban on the site and whether there is permission to copy.

Restrictions can be set both in the material itself (for example, it says that blog posts are prohibited from copying), and in the site rules, usually a link to them is located at the bottom of the page (in the footer).

Some sites state that the materials may be used "for informational, scientific, educational or cultural purposes." This applies to special news, educational and other resources, and ordinary sites, blogs, forums do not fall into this category - the difference is the same as between watching TV and a film festival :)

What if there is simply no such permission? This means NOT allowed! This is evidenced by Article 1229 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation “The copyright holder may, at his own discretion, permit or prohibit other persons from using the result of intellectual activity or a means of individualization. The absence of a prohibition is not considered consent (permission).”

If the website (blog) says that copy-paste is prohibited, write to the author and ask for his permission to republish, there is no other way.

2. Author's permission for republication

Send a letter, personal message or comment on the material to the author and ask permission to reprint, also writing where exactly you want to place his material.

If you have a good and interesting blog or website, the author will most likely allow you to repost, at least I always allow you to copy my materials to decent resources, because for the author this is not much, but advertising.

3. Quoting

But if copying is still prohibited, the author does not give permission or there is no contact with him, but you still really want to tell your friends or readers of your site about interesting material, and at the same time you consider yourself a decent person and do not want to offend the author...

In this situation, you can use the rules of the civil code on citation,

Article 1274. Free use of the work for informational, scientific, educational or cultural purposes

1) quoted in original and translated into scientific, polemical, critical or informational purposes lawfully published works to the extent justified by the purpose of quoting, including the reproduction of excerpts from newspaper and magazine articles in the form of press reviews;

Just keep in mind that quoting does not mean copying the entire text! By general rule It is believed that quotation is the use of no more than 30% of the borrowed text, while the quotation cannot exceed 30% of the volume of the original. That is, in an article of 1000 words, for 700 of your words there may be 300 words of quotation from the original article of more than 1000 words.

There is also an informational purpose, that is, you can place an announcement of the material you like - that is, take a couple of paragraphs of the material you like (again, no more than a third of the original), and after the quote write “the full text can be read at www.site.ru /vasya-pupkin.html" for example.

In this case, you do not violate anything, your readers see what interesting material you have found for them, and if they want to read the continuation, they follow the link, so the author will also be pleased.

That is, you must, by force of law (regardless of whether the author of the material requires it) indicate:

and where did you copy the material from, such as: Original or Republication from www.site.ru/vasya-pupkin.html

Most of the RuNet does not attach importance to “such little things,” but no one thought about what it would be like for an author to discover plagiarism or even just a repost of what he wrote for his site and his readers?

If there is no indication of the author, the copy-paste artist will be accused of appropriating someone else’s work, that is, plagiarism, and in Russian, of stealing content, because appropriating someone else’s work is theft, and the plagiarist is a thief, no matter how you look at it, and he will acquire bad karma, although this is not too obvious for the time being :)

The author can also complain about plagiarism and violation of his rights. Based on the author’s complaint, his material on someone else’s website, blog, social network page of the copy-paste thief, and perhaps the entire account of the copy-paste thief will be blocked or completely deleted.

Usually, stolen content is not found immediately, but after a few months, when it has already become overgrown with comments from friends and readers, they will also be deleted. Yes, this is true and I will show you this with examples in the article about complaining to the hoster. Then it’s the copy-pastor’s turn to tear his hair out...

And who is to blame? Only those who do not respect copyright! Serves him right, because everything is legal!

Therefore, you must always respect the rights of others, then you will not have problems.

And in general, being an honest person is always better, and the fact that in the eyes of other people you can be one, IMHO, is also important!

You just need to think a little about others, but a person’s head is given precisely for the purpose of thinking....

Many site owners protect their text from copying, this is mainly done so that “hackers” do not steal it, it’s funny, because the person who needs the material will take it in no time, and for more experienced swindlers it will not be difficult to get the devil out of code.

I think banning text selection is a useless idea, because it only affects ordinary users who only need to copy text on a site that is not copied, for example, to paste part of a sentence into the search bar so as not to enter it manually or for some other legal purpose.

Dedicated to everyone who doesn’t yet know how to copy text from a copy-protected site. In this article I will give examples only of the most simple ways, so as not to waste time on third-party programs.

In three clicks

The simplest and quick way. If you use Google Chrome, at the beginning of the address bar, click on the padlock (if the site is on https) or the exclamation mark (if on http) - find the “javascript” item and block it.

Copying protected text using developer tools

The next method is to go to the developer panel in the browser (there are several options):

  • F12 key;
  • Ctrl + Shift + I;
  • Google Chrome Settings → Advanced. Tools → Developer Tools.

Next, you need to select an element on the page (in our case, this is not selected text) using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + C or click on the corresponding icon in the panel that opens in the upper left corner, then move the cursor over the protected text so that the blue area covers exactly the desired one part for you.

Now all that remains is to copy this passage. On the panel, the required part of the code with text will be highlighted in blue, click on the triangle to open the content and double click Use the left mouse button to select the text and copy it.

Please note that if the text uses line breaks, various secretions, links, etc. then you will have to copy it in parts!

How to copy non-copyable text from page code

The second option is no more difficult than the first. On a site page where the text is not copied, go to the page code, Ctrl + U or right mouse button -> view page code.

The same code will open in a new tab, here you can find the desired content by viewing visually or speed up the process and use the page search F3 or Ctrl + F in the upper or lower corner (depending on the browser), a search bar will appear, start typing the first word of the non-copied text and it will be highlighted in red. This is how you can find words in the text on a website or in code without spending a lot of time on it.

Copying text on a site that is not copied by disabling javascript

Probably the most convenient way to copy uncopiable text, since you don’t need to tinker with the site’s code.

In the Google Chrome browser, click “control settings” and select “settings”, at the very bottom of the page click on the “Show” link additional settings", under the inscription "Personal data" click on the "Content settings..." button, in the third paragraph in the pop-up window, check the box "Prohibit execution of javascript on all sites" and confirm your actions with the "Finish" button.

Now reload the site that has text copy protection, and freely continue your “insidious” business!

That's all, I think these three ways is quite enough to answer the question “How to copy text from a site that is copy-protected?” As I said earlier, any protection can be bypassed, and webmasters who use such senseless methods of protecting content simply complicate the convenient use of the site for ordinary visitors, and those who really want to hack something on the site will do so because ideal protection does not exist.

How can I copy a web page if the page has copy protection installed? Many of us have visited sites on the Internet where we were unable to copy the contents of the site page in the usual way.

To copy content, select the content of the web page right click mouse to then copy the selection, but it’s not possible to save a web page this way. This site may have copy protection software or plugins installed.

The plugin blocks the use of mouse selection. Many webmasters thus want to protect their intellectual property by protecting their content from being copied.

Some not very conscientious site owners copy the content of other people's articles on other sites, and then publish the copied articles under their own name.

Most of those who copy articles on website pages are still conscientious people. They copy the contents of website pages only so as not to lose the necessary information. The addresses of the necessary sites are lost; it is not always possible to remember on which site the information that has now become necessary was posted.

But, unfortunately, and for some, perhaps fortunately, 100% copy protection does not exist. There are several ways to copy the content of a website page or a specific article on a website.

The easiest way is, of course, simply copying the text from the site page, but this is a rather labor-intensive process. You can bookmark an individual web page or site in your browser, but this is not copying.

There are several other copying methods, and I want to tell you about them. You'll learn how to copy a web page even if the site has content copy protection installed.

Web page screenshot

The second easiest way is to take a screenshot of the entire page or section of a specific article.

Using the operating room Windows systems, when you press the keyboard key " Print Screen", copying occurs open page site. After copying to the clipboard, we can open the page in graphic editor, for example, in the built-in operating system graphic Paint editor.

In the Paint editor, click on the “Home” tab, and then on the “Insert” button. After inserting an image, you can edit it if necessary, and then save it in the desired graphic format.

The disadvantages of this method are that the copy is saved as graphic file, it will not be possible to edit the text in it; not the entire page can be included in the image if it does not completely fit on the monitor screen.

For those users whose computers have operating systems installed Windows Vista and Windows 7 (in older editions), installed good program for taking screenshots - Scissors.

Using the application, you can copy not only the entire page, but also a separate part of the article, or just the article itself if it is small. This can also be done using other programs for taking screenshots, as well as using appropriate browser add-ons (extensions).

How to save a web page as a web document or web archive

Let's consider the question of how to copy a web page in the most popular browsers.

In the browser Internet Explorer you will need to enter the “Tools” menu => “File” => “Save as...” (or simultaneously press the “Ctrl” + “S” keys on the keyboard). After this, an Explorer window will open.

In the Explorer window, after choosing a save location, you are offered several options to choose from for saving the file.

If you selected the options: “Web page in full” or “Web page, only HTML”, then after saving the page, next to the file - “HTML document”, a folder with the contents of the site page will be saved.

After opening the web archive, you will see a saved page of the site, from where you can copy the entire page, or just the article, or part of the article in the usual way for further editing or saving, for example in the Word program from Microsoft Office.

IN Opera browser you need to click on the “Opera” button, then “Page” => “Save as...”, then select the save option, similar to the Internet Explorer browser.

In the browser Mozilla Firefox you need to click on the “Firefox” => “Save as...” button, then select the desired option for saving the web page. Saving in a web archive in the Mozilla Firefox browser is possible if you install in Firefox browser corresponding extension.

To copy a web page, in the Google Chrome browser, click on the “Setting and managing Google Chrome” button => “Save page as...”, then you need to select a saving method from two options: “Complete web page” or “Web page , HTML only."

Save a web page to PDF using a virtual printer

A virtual printer allows you to convert any document or image from a program that supports printing into PDF format.

To use a virtual printer in Internet browsers Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, you need to install a program on your computer - a virtual printer, for example.

On in this example, I use free program- Bullzip virtual printer PDF Printer.

The installation of the program is standard, and it occurs in Russian. The program is installed into the operating system as a virtual printer. After installation on your computer, Bullzip PDF Printer appears in the list installed printers and faxes.

Conclusions of the article

There are several ways in which you can copy a web page to your computer using a virtual printer, a web document, or a browser extension.

Quite often, we, ordinary users, are faced with a situation when we need to record text from the Internet into our computer. That is, we need to somehow drag it out of the network. Make it easier than ever!

Almost any text on the Internet can be downloaded to a computer and recorded in separate file. This file can be opened and read at any time (without the Internet), written to a flash drive or disk, sent by mail, or printed on a printer.

Moreover, you can not just download text from one source, but also from different ones. That is, take a piece from one site, add a piece from another site to it, then add a picture from a third, and so on.

This is very necessary for schoolchildren, students, as well as people in science. After all, in this way you can prepare any essay, write a term paper and even a dissertation.

What is needed for this

We will need:

If you have all this, then you can safely skip this part and proceed directly to the process itself.

Computer with internet. We will talk about downloading text to a computer or laptop (netbook). For smartphones, tablets and others modern devices this method is not suitable.

Since we will learn to download from the network, then, of course, the Internet must work on the computer - without it nothing will work. Although after we download the information, the Internet will no longer be needed - the text will open anyway.

A browser is a program in which we open the Internet. If you are now reading this article from a computer, then you have it open in just such a program.

Browsers are different. The most popular are Google Chrome, Opera, Yandex, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. Any of these browsers will suit us.

Text editor is a program for printing and editing text.

There are many such programs in the world, but there is one that is used by the majority. It's called Microsoft Office Word. There are also analogues of this program on computers - OpenOffice Writer And LibreOffice Writer.

How to find out if any of them are on your computer. It's simple: right-click on an empty space on the Desktop (on the computer screen).

A list will open in which you need to hover over the “Create” item. An additional list will appear.

If it contains an item whose name contains the words Microsoft Office Word or OpenDocument, then everything is in order - there is a text editor on the computer and you can begin the download process.

If you don’t find anything like this, you should open Start, select All Programs and look for Microsoft Office (OpenOffice or LibreOffice) in the list that appears. Then click on the item found and find Microsoft Office Word (OpenOffice Writer or LibreOffice Writer) in the list.

But if you don’t find anything like that in Start, you’ll have to download and install one of these programs on your computer. Personally, I recommend OpenOffice.

This is a set of several programs - practically full copy Microsoft package Office, only free. This set also contains the text editor we need, it’s called Open Office Text.

To download the free Open Office suite in Russian, simply click on this link. The file will begin downloading. Download it, then open and install the program - to do this, you just need to agree with everything all the time (click OK or Run, then all the time Next, Install and Finish). After installation, open OpenOffice Writer (Start - All Programs - OpenOffice), click Next and Finish.

You can, of course, do without installing the program - your computer already has a built-in editor, it’s called WordPad.

But it does not accept pictures, diagrams and tables. That is, if we use it, the result will be simply “bare” text.

The principle of downloading text

The principle is very simple: copy the desired text, paste it into a text editor and save.

I’ll show you how this happens using the example of downloading this article.

First I need to mark the part of the text that I want to write into the computer. To do this, you need to select it.

This should be done slowly and carefully, without touching anything unnecessary. And very often on sites, in addition to the necessary information, there is also a lot of unnecessary information - advertising, various buttons and inscriptions. And it’s better to highlight it so as not to affect all this.

I move the cursor to the very, very beginning of the part of the text that I want to save. The cursor should change to a stick instead of a regular arrow.

Now I click on left button mouse and, without releasing it, move the cursor down the text, thereby painting it over.

After selection, I release the left mouse button and move the cursor over any selected part of the text.

I right-click once and select “Copy” from the list that appears.

Nothing happens after that, but that's how it should be.

Although we don’t see it, the computer has already memorized the text. All that remains is to paste it into the file.

I'm creating a new file. To do this, I open the folder on my computer where I want to write the text. Inside it, I click on an empty space with the right mouse button. From the list, select the “Create” item and in the additional menu that appears, click on the “ Microsoft document Office Word" or "OpenDocument Test Document".

A new file appears and the computer “asks” to name it something.

I type the name for it and left-click on the empty space to pin it.

So, the file is there. Now you need to open it and write the text inside. I open this newly created file.

The program is loaded - a text editor. The large white part in it is a regular A4 landscape sheet.

I move the cursor over this white part (anywhere) and right-click once. A list will open in which you need to click on the “Insert” item.

The program will think a little and insert the required text into White list along with pictures, diagrams, tables and other details. Now all that's left is to save it. To do this, click on the button with the image of a floppy disk at the top of the program

That's all - text from the Internet has been recorded into the computer! I check: I close the program along with the text and again open the recently created file.

The program opens again, but it no longer contains a blank white sheet, but my text. This means that it is recorded on the computer and will not go anywhere (unless, of course, I delete it myself later).

You can download texts in a slightly different way. First, we select the necessary information in the same way and copy it. After that, open a text editor (Start - All Programs - Microsoft Office - Microsoft Office Word) and paste into it what you copied. After everything is inserted, save the file to your computer.

Common problems

1. Incorrect text display

For example, we highlighted information on the site, copied it, pasted it into the editor, but it was added incorrectly. You can, of course, try to change it using the program (change the font, letter size, etc.), but this does not always work.

There is a simpler and effective method. If you have a modern version of Word (2007-2013), then you must first select the text that you want to bring back to normal.

To select all the text, immediately click on the “Select” button in the upper right corner of the program and select “Select All” (Editing - Select - Select All).

Then you need to click on this button at the top of the program (on the left)

The text becomes the same everywhere, without any design.

In Word 2003, to clean up text, you must first select it.

You can select everything at once by clicking the Edit button (at the top) and selecting Select All.

Then click on the list next to the button at the top of the program.

From the list, select “Clear format”.

IN OpenOffice program Writer or LibreOffice Writer, we also select the desired text. Then right-click on the selected part and select “Default formatting” (or “Clear formatting”) from the menu.

When, when inserting into the program, unnecessary parts were added along with the text, you just need to delete them. To do this, select the excess and press the delete button on the keyboard (Delete or Backspace).

And to delete a picture, just click on it once with the left mouse button and click the delete button.

3. Incorrect display of pictures

It happens that when you insert text with a photograph or picture into the editor, the image may seem to be cropped.

In fact, nothing like this happens - it simply does not fit on an A4 sheet.

It also happens that it seems like a picture or photograph has been inserted, but it doesn’t look very good - the image seems to be blurry.

And in that other case you just need to reduce it. To do this, click on the picture once with the left mouse button. Small squares appear on it.

Here you need to move the cursor over any corner square, click on the left mouse button and, without releasing it, move the cursor diagonally to the center of the image.

Thus it will decrease. Once you have the desired size, simply release the mouse button.

Copying text from different sources

How does this happen:

  • We select the required part from one article, copy it and paste it into a file - everything is as I showed.
  • We save the file, but do not close it - we just minimize it.
  • Let's return to the Internet. Select the desired part from another article and copy it.
  • Expand the file with the text, click on the empty space at the end of the pasted text (so that the cursor starts blinking there) and paste what you copied.
  • Save again, collapse, select part of the next article and paste.

In this way, you can easily and unpretentiously “compose” almost any work.

What can you do with downloaded text?

So, we received a file with text. Since it is recorded on our computer, you can do the same with it as with any other file: write it to a flash drive, disk, send it by mail, and so on.

You can also edit it like a normal one Text Document. That is, change as you please: delete something, reprint something, change the size of letters, font, add pictures, headings and much more.

In general, you can do with it everything that you usually do with your own printed text.

By the way, if you don’t know how to use Word, you can learn the basics on our website in a special section.

Well, and, of course, this text can be printed on plain paper, that is, printed on a printer. This is done as usual - using the “Print” item.

Moreover, if you simply printed out the text from the site (from the Internet), the result would most likely be disastrous. As a rule, together with necessary information A lot of unnecessary stuff is also printed.

And it happens that the information is cut off - it is impossible to read it later. That is, the user receives a pile of paper with unreadable text.

What to do if you can’t download the text

It happens that various difficulties arise when downloading. Now I will show you how to deal with them.

One of the problems can be described as follows:

It seems like the text was copied and pasted, but nothing is visible in the program.

In this case, when pasted into a text editor, you will see something like this:

That is, the information seems to be there, but for some reason it is not visible. It’s simple: nothing is visible because the text itself is white and it “dissolves” on the white sheet.

This can be corrected in the same way as with incorrect display - by clearing the format. It is written about how to do this.

The next fairly common problem is:

The text is inserted, but without pictures, tables and other details.

Your browser (Internet program) is to blame for this. Apparently, it is outdated for you, since in new versions everything is copied and pasted as it is on the Internet.

This problem is solved by downloading and installing a modern (latest) version of the browser.

The exception is Mozilla Firefox. Even the most modern version copies only text and pictures, without design (letter size, alignment, colors, etc.). So if you need text with design, you will have to use another browser to download it.

Another copying problem is quite rare and its solution is not at all obvious. The gist is this:

The text cannot be copied at all. It is not highlighted, copied or pasted.

The point is NOT that it prohibits downloading the article to your computer. He just doesn’t want various dishonest people to reprint it and make money from it.

It is possible to bypass this protection, but it is not so easy. I will briefly describe the action plan:

  1. We save the entire site page. When saving, in the “File type” section, select “Text file”.
  2. Open the saved file, select the desired text and copy it.
  3. Paste it into a program (Word or Writer) and save it on your computer.

If you desperately need them, you will have to “photograph” them (take a screenshot) and paste them into a text editor separately.

Other ways to save

Many novice users confuse downloading text with “remembering” it in the browser. And the difference is very big.

Downloading is a process in which information STAYS on the computer.

And here “memorizing” (bookmarking)- it’s just a tag, quick access to a page on the Internet. That is, THERE WILL BE NO TEXT IN THE COMPUTER. Such a label simply helps to open the desired address - it is something like a shortcut.

In other words, all the operations with which you seem to write text into the computer do not actually save it. It will only be on the Internet, and not on your computer.

That is, without the Internet you will not be able to open it. Also, it cannot be written to a flash drive or disk, sent by mail, or printed.

More precisely, you can print it, but only from the Internet, and, as I already said, there may be problems when printing.

You should download text from the Internet only in the way that I showed in this article!

Best regards, Ilya Krivosheev

P.S. To be completely honest, I note that there are several other download methods. For example, saving web pages, downloading entire sites, and several other options. But they are either hopelessly outdated, narrowly applicable, or technically complex.
