Removable

Hello. I got a smartphone from the Highscreen company, model – Power Rage Evo. And today I decided to do a short review on it and tell you about my impressions of this device.

Equipment and appearance.

The smartphone comes in the usual white box for the Higscreen company. Quite minimalist. Its main characteristics are written on the cover, and its main feature is also highlighted - a 4000 mAh battery. Ordered along with the smartphone original case for him. It comes in the same style box as the device itself.

There is a sticker on the side with serial numbers, manufacturer information, supported standards, etc.

On other sides useful information, except for the company name and smartphone.

The equipment, traditionally for Higscreen, is quite rich. For which respect to them.

Let's take a closer look at it.

Included with us is:

USB cable micro usb, for charging and connecting to a computer. It looks pretty high quality and thick. Length about 90cm.

Headset. I liked the sound from it. Loud, bassy, and what else do you need from headphones =).

4000 mAh battery. There’s even something written on it in Russian, which is touching =).

Silicone bumper. It’s nice, but I was alarmed that the sides of the bumper don’t protrude above the screen, which means it’s almost certain that the glass will be damaged if it falls.

This is what the smartphone looks like in it. It fits comfortably in the hand.

Protective film. Film less screen, which is not very good, it could be done to protect the entire screen. But thanks for that.

Also included in the kit we are greeted OTG cable, with which you can, for example, recharge another device, or connect a flash drive. In general, special thanks for this addition, a very useful thing =)

And of course a set of waste paper.

The smartphone itself looks like this.

At the back we have a camera, a speaker and a camera flash/flashlight.

At the bottom there is a micro USB port and a microphone hole.

At the top is the headset port.

On the right are the volume rockers and the power button.

Under the back cover there is a separate port for a micorsd memory card, and 2 ports for micro SIM cards.

A few words about the case. This is what he looks like.

Overall quite stylish and cute. But the phone is attached to the case only by the edges on the right and left, as a result, the corners of the phone are not protected, and the phone is not held securely in it; you can take it out with one finger. Consequently, when dropped, the phone flies out of it and quietly jumps along the floor/asphalt, etc. (Checked personally. I just realized that I’m level 80, because in a week I managed to drop this phone 4 times, and it was only by miracle that it didn’t break, but more on that below =)). The magnet on the strap, so to speak, is quite strong, and you can open the case and use a magnet to secure the lid so that it does not dangle.

Specifications.

GPU – Mali T-729
Screen – IPS, 5”, glass – Asahi Glass Dragontrail, 1280x720

Battery – Li-pol, 4000 mAh, removable
G-sensor, light sensor, proximity sensor, GLONASS/GPS, magnetic field sensor.
Dimensions: 144x71x9.95
Weight: 168g.

Impression.

My impressions of this smartphone are very good.

First of all, I really like the design. The screen has curves, which makes the smartphone look more expensive. The back is just as beautiful.

The build quality, as always with Highscreen, is excellent - the lid holds up very well, no backlash or squeaks were noticed. The details fit very well.

The battery holds a charge for a day with very active use. By very active use I mean almost non-stop watching videos on Youtube, playing games, etc.

The screen is bright, rich and contrasty. In the sun, everything is clearly visible. There is also an oleophobic coating of normal quality, so the screen is not very dirty, and when it gets dirty, it can be easily cleaned with just one swipe of a napkin.

The control buttons are not backlit.

The smartphone can wake up with a double tap and supports wake-up gestures.

I also consider it a plus, although relative, because... I don’t exclude the possibility that I was just lucky – the smartphone is strong. As I wrote above, in a week of use it fell 4 times. 1 time on tiles, 1 time on a wooden staircase and 2 times on asphalt, and after the first three falls there were no traces left at all. After the last resort, a dent appeared in the corner of the phone. But the screen remained absolutely intact and not damaged.

The navigation system does not find satellites very quickly, but the location is determined accurately.

As for performance, it is typical for this class of devices. For example Asphalt 8, on high settings It slows down a little, not to say that it interferes greatly, but it’s more comfortable to play at medium settings.

In Antutu, the device dials 33242 parrots. In Geekbench – 585 and 1099. In Epic Citadel it turned out to be 36.3 FPS.

3GB of RAM should be enough for most tasks.
You can evaluate the quality of the camera by looking at the original photographs. As for me, it is neither bad nor good, an ordinary camera, in general it will do.

Examples of photos from the main camera:

From the front:

I was pleased with the presence of a magnetic field sensor. The compass works very well, but periodically asks for calibration, which can take a long time, and all this time you have to move the phone through the air, which from the outside looks strange, to put it mildly.

In general, I don’t even know what to complain about...

Perhaps the disadvantages include the fact that the back cover turned out to be quite tacky, which can be solved with the help of a case or a complete bumper, and the absence of an indicator for missed events.

It’s also a pity that the silicone case doesn’t protrude above the screen, and the film doesn’t completely cover the screen, but few people even include such goodness in the package with the phone, but here they do, so I think you can’t find fault with these things.

Otherwise, I personally really liked this phone.

You can buy it.

And if you use the LetyShops service, you can get a small cashback for your purchase.

In early autumn, Highscreen announced preparations for the release of an updated version of Power Rage with the Evo prefix. The evolution for this model added support for a number of relevant functions and increased performance. As before, one of key features Highscreen Power Rage Evo has a battery with a capacity of 4000 mAh, more than the market average, but for Highscreen even this capacity is not a record. Attention to time battery life The good news is that few people care about this parameter, limiting themselves to vague promises of optimization. According to good tradition, we had the opportunity to be one of the first to study the new product.

By the way, the improvement did not noticeably affect the cost; it is still available to a mass audience. By the time of publication, sales had already started, the recommended price is 11,990 rubles. Below is a summary table with price monitoring in Russian stores, compiled based on data from the Yandex.Market service.

Highscreen Power Rage Evo review

Equipment

Supplied in light-colored, thick cardboard packaging. The characteristics are displayed in the form of a schematic display of the phone.

The package includes a charger, microUSB cable, OTG cable, transparent bumper, headphones, instructions and warranty card.

Appearance

Highscreen Power Rage Evo is available in several color variations: dark blue, brown and gold. The colors chosen are unusual, each interesting in its own way. We tested the dark blue one, it doesn’t look budget-friendly.

Not only the colors, but also the materials used contribute to this. Metal is used instead of the common plastic.

It is pleasant to the touch, improves heat dissipation and provides additional protection. The transition points between glass and plastic are well calibrated.

There are a couple of plastic inserts at the top and bottom; they are necessary to improve the antennas of the communication modules. The main camera lens is shifted to the corner. There is an LED flash nearby.

In the center of the lid is the manufacturer's logo. The speaker grille is closer to the bottom edge, it does not overlap with the palm, and the volume does not suffer.

The case is collapsible, you need to make an effort to disassemble it. The lid does not bend under finger pressure. The battery is removable. There are two microSIM slots and a microSD memory card slot with support for high-capacity drives. No paper clips or selection required.

The volume rocker and power button are on the right side. They press easily, the click is clear.

On the bottom edge there is a microUSB connector and a microphone hole. On the opposite side, the Highscreen Power Rage Evo has an audio jack.

The front side is covered with protective glass with a 2.5D effect. The bottom frame is occupied by three touch buttons, the top by the speaker grille, front camera, proximity and lighting sensors.

The thickness of the case is slightly less than 1 cm. The thickness is not felt, all elements are within easy reach.

Screen

The main area of the front side is occupied by a five-inch screen with HD resolution. Pixel density 298 ppi. The quality of the matrix settings pleased me. High brightness reserve, uniform illumination, adaptive adjustment. The picture is clear, the fonts are smooth. There is no air gap between the Asahi protective glass and the matrix. Oleophobic coating applied. Five simultaneous touches are recognized.

Filling

The hardware platform has been updated. A quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor with Mali T-720 graphics is installed. On board there are 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of data storage. When you first turn it on, about 12 GB is available, there is support for a memory card. OTG supported. The level of performance is sufficient for stable and fast Highscreen works Power Rage Evo. Most games produce comfortable FPS. Under prolonged load, no heating of the lid was noticed.

Antutu

Vellamo

Geekbench

Epic Citadel

3DMark

Connection

Added support for high-speed connections via LTE standard. The spectrum of supported frequencies is optimized for Russian users. The connection is stable, file download speed is high. There is Bluetooth 4.0, single-band Wi-Fi. The navigation module uses a joint GPS and GLONASS signal. A cold start and searching for satellites takes 10-15 seconds. Don't forget about FM radio; you will need to connect wired headphones to work.

Battery

Inside the case there is a battery with a capacity of 4000 mAh. When not actively used, the Highscreen Power Rage Evo charge lasts for two days. Normal use will give you a fair day of battery life with long display life. About 8 hours of watching movies in high definition, 5 hours of gaming. PowerBank mode is supported to transfer charge to another phone or accessories.

Camera

Camera modules have been updated. Instead of an 8 megapixel sensor, the Highscreen Power Rage Evo now boasts a 13 megapixel camera. Autofocus, flash. Launching the application takes minimal time. Eat quick settings, additional modes, creative presets, remote shutter release. During the daytime, the smartphone demonstrates excellent image quality. Well-tuned color rendition, high detail.

Software

Current installed Android version 6.0 without a proprietary shell. The system is clean, there is no affiliate software or add-ons. Google Play available.

Gesture controls and a virtual button are available in the settings.

Results for Highscreen Power Rage Evo

Highscreen Power Rage Evo is a successful and logical continuation of the series. With a slight increase in cost, users are offered LTE support, increased performance, improved cameras, interesting colors, and the latest Android 6.0. The advantages of its predecessor are retained: complete case and film, PowerBank mode, long battery life, high-quality display, accurate navigation, FM radio, metal case.
